Hello i am looking at buying an old bungalow but when we went in you could see the centre of the floor has dipped.

All the internal walls are partitioned walls so the only solid walls are the external ones but none have any cracks. Are there any simple reasons for this, we really like this property and dont want to make a huge mistake buying it? It looks like a concrete floor but without pulling up the current owners carpets we cant be sure. this bungalow is an old holiday home and is a stone throw away from the beach. it is not a huge building.

Please please have a structural survey carried out at the property. In my mind it should be a legal requirement as it will save any nasty suprises and if there are major issues you are covered by the report. Its money well spent

As previous answer you MUST get a structural survey,I have had in the past come across this ,on one occasion it was that bad there was a dip in the centre of the bungalow that left a 4 inch gap between the bottom edges of the skirtings and the floor boards !!.
This was in fact due to the oversite being incorrectly compacted when the bungalow was built and had to be taken back to the natural sub soil and completely re-done- major expense !!,so be careful
