Insulation

outside insulation and rendering

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

My Annex wall is wet on the inside and cold , also the old render is crumbling on the outside. Do I have to wait till the wall is dry before it can be Insulated and rendered? Will the rainy weather compramise the Quality ?

It’s not just the wet weather you need to be worried about, it’s the temperature. Frost & render don’t mix well. In my opinion, leave it til the spring.

Trouble is Zora is that the rain has got behind the rendering and it gets trapped and then penetrates through the brickwork and then nicely into the internal walls. Best bet get the rendering off the external wall/s and it will start to breathe and dry out as long as the pointing is reasonable. Is the rendering covering the whole wall/s or just blow down!
