Plumbing

sealing up pipes under the sink

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.53 PM

i think this is a plumbing job........or someone who knows about plumbing. I think mice are getting through my pipe openings under sink? its where all the pipes are connected to the outside and the hose that is connected to the washing machine, that goes through a hole cutting through near the sink what would i have to do to cover these up?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi jomouse Although I would consider this more of a handyman function, I would recommend that you buy expanding foam and fill the gaps, wait for it to fully expand and dry and then cut off the excess. Hope this helps! Shaun

Hi Jomouse. I've seen a mouse run straight up a brick 10 foot wall and through a tiny hole.... then run through the loft to the back kitchen area. You can't stop them by filling in a few hoes... only slow them down. I use humane mouse traps then take it for a long car ride and challenge it to find it's way back... they can! Regards, Bob.

Find the hole where it comes from, use some metal wool to fill the gaps and then plaster the holes, but do not forget to buy some mouse traps

This is a pest control job, you can lay Poison boxes down near the area last seen, under kitchen units is also a good hiding spot for them. This will make them feel dehydrated and will leave your home for water, with the holes if any I would fit wire wool or wire mesh in the hole and use expanding foam, let set and the cut smooth if needed. If you have a attic I would leave a box or two up there and check on them once a week and top them up when needed, depending on the infestation will depend on how long you will need to lay poison. Good luck 😉
