What trade do i need for damp wall, might be roof leak?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

After strong winds i found 2 roof tiles in my garden. A few weeks later a damp patch appeared on an interior wall - the patch is near the ceiling around where the tile came from so i think its connected but im not 100% sure. What trade do i need to hire to investigate, should i ask a plasterer to investigate or a roofer? Thanks! Pete

First a roofer. One you trust. If it’s a leak once it’s sorted and dried out a plasterer will renew the plasterwork to make all fresh and new. If the damp is is rising (this only happens on ground floors) the age of the building will depend on the materials used. A fairly new ( post war) is usually gypsum so Renee with a damp approved plaster. If older think about lime plaster. Hope this helps. Terry

Get a roofer out first to check for a leak, if it once thats sorted then get a plasterer to remove damp area, put a sand cement coat on with SBR solution then bond and skim to make good.
