Replacing element on Leisure Cooker (no front accessible screws)

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi, I see this question has been asked before but I couldn’t see a useful answer to it, so hoping this time for some correct advice... I have a Leisure dual fuel range cooker, it’s 6 years old and no problems til now. Last night it tripped and then stopped heating in the fan oven compartment. Everything else is still working ie hob and grill, so after checking the element I think that’s the cause (appears lightly miscoloured and warped). However, what should be a simple repair, now seems much more challenging due to the element screws being attached from the back of the oven, making it impossible to remove the element from the front. Not sure if this is an error or deliberate but it is extremely frustrating! Given this is a gas and hard-wired oven, is there any other option to remove the element other than calling out a qualified gas/electrical engineer? Can’t believe that it’s that difficult but perhaps a money spinner for Leisure? Their out of warranty customer support is worse than useless! Hoping someone out there can help me. Thanks in advance.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Always use the service engineer for the appliance concerned , as will be more cost effective , as if you do it yourself you may cause more damage which will host more Basic checks are ok ,is there power to the appliances

That man is correct, I got involved with a cooker, same problem. I bought the element that was suspect, £50. Fitted the element, still got the same fault on it. Couldn't charge the client, couldn't take the part back. Phoned the manufacturer helpline, they came out took the cooker away. They replaced the cooker with a new one. The moral of this tale is : like the man said give it back to the people who made it. I lost money and time. So take my advise.

If you needed to ask the question on how to do it then you maybe shouldnt be attempting to do it. All fan elements come out from the front however not all cookers have the element secured from the front, around 50% of them are secured from the back which as an appliance engineer infuriates me having to pull out an appliance to get access to the back panel when it could have been designed better Anyone you contract to do it for you will need to be gas safe registered appliance engineer. The job itself isnt difficult for someone like me however you are paying for years of experience and the gas certification required to legally do the job. Use someone local eg from this website it will cost you about half the money you would be paying for a beko company engineer visit

The replacement of the heating element should be easy for a contractor as we have experience in the field and can ensure safe working practise along with carrying out the necessary safety checks after
