Combi boiler only fires radiators when hot water is run

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

Hi, Strange fault with my Baxi platinum boiler. Hot water works fine but the radiators don’t come on with the thermostat. If I try the radiators on their own the boiler doesn’t fire. If I run the hot water first, the boiler fires and continues to heat the radiators until I turn the water temperature down or switch off the thermostat override. If I turn the water temperature dial down to about 40 degrees the boiler will occasionally fire up but heats the radiators to a high temperature. I’m thinking faulty thermistor or pcb maybe.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. Well pretty much sounds like a gremlin has been into the boiler and swaped the central heating and hot water thermistor wires around. Would need to be infront of the boiler to give a definite answer but it is an electrical issue. If diverter was stuck or not moving you wouldnt get "hot" hot water and central heating would not circulate it diverter was stuck.
