Flat roof to pitch roof

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.05 PM

Hi want to convert my side and rear flat roof extension to pitched roof. What is the first step I need to take ? Do I need to appoint a architect first thing so they can do the drawings and send it to the council to approve ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, Unfortunately you will need to get planning permission to go from flat to pitch roof and yes they will need drawings. Some people just go ahead and change their roof but when you come to sell your house the buyer’s solicitor will ask for proof of planning and building control permission

Hi there I would most definitely get building control involved as they will need to over see and approve of all the structure of the timber in the roof to make sure all correct size timbers and all fixings are being used . if you don't and ever come to want to sell your house you will not have the paper work you need .
