Gluing carpet underlay to plywood

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.05 PM

I intend to glue the rubber side of carpet underlay to an 8 x 4 piece of plywood as a base for a train layout. What glue should I use please Some people have suggested PVA. others have suggested contact adhesive. Thank you.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would not use underlay on the back of plywood for a train set. It would complicate the wiring no end. You use chipboard for a railway, I have built or rather building one. However if one insists then a spray contact adhesive would be ideal

I would suggest using a simple carpet adhesive spray glue, these usually retail for around £5 and are available in most diy stores

The ply wood or insulation wouldn't cause amy issues as it sounds like it's going to be moveable if needed but a spray glue would be my choice Thanks sam
