Hot water tap with a combi boiler

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hi I had a bath fitted 6 months ago, used the bath a few time’s and there was no issues with the mixer tap temp. I went to have a bath last night and the temp out of the hot water tap (hot tap on only no cold) was only 61/62 on the combi boiler. Now the hot water tap on the bathroom and mixer shower which run off the same feed is fine, temp goes up to 70 + on the boiler when running the tap. There is no pressure issue with the tap - hasn’t dropped since it was used with no issue. There is no isolating valve on the line which is half closed etc. Why would there be an issue now on the one tap and no issue on two other taps which run on this feed? I had a plumber around recently but he only touched 1 radiator feed while moving a radiator, nothing hot water. Nothing has changed since the bath was fitted and used.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it is a mixer tap then likely the mixer has failed. Repair or replace the mixer/tap

Slow the Taps flow down. Your running it to fast. If this doesn't resolve it then it's the tap not the boiler

I would suggest having an engineer check that the plate heat exchanger on your boiler isn’t blocked, the boiler getting hot when using hot water, and a low temp at outlet is indicative of a blocked heat exchanger.
