Self-cerfitication of new toiled in log cabin

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.26 PM

Hello, I would like to install a toilet in my garden building. I understand you need building controls approval for new toilets. Can a registered plumber (APHC or other) self-certify the job or will I still need to get the council involved? Thank you for your help!

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Technically you need building control to sign it off as it’s an alteration to your drainage which runs to highways foul drainage system

You still may need the local DS to pass the test on the drainage

Building control will need to be involved, they will probably need to inspect the soil pipe and any underground connection before it is filled in. Then all the fitting of the toilet & plumbing may be able to be signed off by the plumber if he is in a suitable scheme. Many aren’t mind.
