Painting brickwork

Dont pva any surface that is to be painted and certainely never mix pva in paint. Remove all loose and friable material. Apply a coat of zinsser gardz. Then paint. Go to a good decorators merchant and talk to them about the best paint for this

Hi, Scrap off all the loose bits with a wire brush. Then use one coat of stabilizer solution / Zinsser Guardz for interiors or/and Rust-Oleum Pegaprim Isofixl for exteriors. Once it is dry use 2 good coats of masonry paint. Hope it will work. Good luck

Strip back the loose paint you some stabiliser solution then use Zinser bin then you can put whatever paint you want on I Hope that will sort it out

Hi My professional opinion is if the wall is in sound condition then you need to paint it with more of a durable material such as sandtex masonry paint this is more durable and direct for brickwork and external render, sandtex can also be mixed in various colours to suite. I would prefer the sandtex smooth masonry not the textured but preference is your own. If the brickwork is flaking and damaged then there is only one way to rectify this on an uneven surface and that is to sand blast it. Hope this helps

Wire brush all of the area and anything that doesn't want to move,leave.Apply a good quality masonry paint with a little water and add PVA as this will act as a stabilizer for the first coat.Once dry should only need another two coats to finish.

If solid scrap loose area two coats of a good masonry paint should do it need to be dry and not to cold a day

As long as the emulsion is stable and not flaking I would give it a coat of optiva primer then 1 or 2 coats of optiva 3 or 5,this is a latex paint which allows the bricks to breath which it needs else the paint will flake,certainly wouldn’t pva it as it won’t allow the bricks to breath

You can paint pva onto brickwork in order to stop the bricks from being porous and the paint will adhere to the surface.
