Socket got wine spilled in it & electrics in kitchen tripping

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.46 PM

Last night wine got spilled over socket beside the sink & now all electrics in kitchen not working including the boiler. Have tried hair dryer & waited overnight for it to dry out but still no luck. Not able to get socket off the wall to help it dry out as screws too tight & slightly rusted (as this has happened before.) Any other thoughts greatly received as to what I can do please as the boiler is off & with no heat & no hot water it is miserable in this cold weather. Many thanks!

Hi Jayne, This sounds like you need to replace this socket. The consumer unit may have tripped too. Not much to do apart from that really. Post a job and get some prices. It should not be expensive. May be a good idea to remove this socket or blank it off too. Cheers D

Interesting how everyone is saying replace the socket which could be the right answer but what you don't know is if the cable has come out of a loose connection caused by the short? Or if the boiler is affecting the circuit because of a fault caused by the trip, there can be any number of reasons call in the experts and be safe.

You need to change socket, could be in the same circuit with the boiler that why it keeps tripping
