Yes you can use stain block on radiators as it stops the radiator from going yellow if its being painted in white. However i would always recommend using radiator paint as it is enamel. And that is correct paint to use on a radiator, also certain brands of radiator paint, have primer undercoat and top coat all mixed into one coat
and paint diers to dry the paint as quickly as possible. Radiators should really be painted during the summer months when the heating is turned off.

Hi,
I would recommend sanding the radiator, with 120 grit sandpaper, as smooth as you can, removing all loose material (including any surface rust) and then applying 2 coats of a Radiator paint, such as Hammerite. The paint is self-undercoating, but if you sand through to the metal use a metal primer. This will ensure that the finish will be able to withstand the high temperatures and will stay put for the maximum amount of time before needing re-painting.
Stainblock will not be as effective and will pull away from the surface after a while, due to the temperature rises and falls.

It will depend on the particular product you are thinking of but I have used Zinsser Bullseye 123 as a rad undercoat and it's worked fine. I'm curious to know what kind of stain you are trying to block on a radiator though. If you have damp seeping through, a stain block isn't going to help.
