Gas Works

Certificate/proof of work carried out

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.28 PM

I had a gas pipe cut and capped at week. Arranged through this website. After the work was done I asked for a cirtifcate or proof to show the work had been carried out by a qualified person. I like to keep proof of all work carried out. I was told that sort of thing isn’t needed for this type of job. I still asked for one but haven’t heard anything since. Where do I stand on this? Thank you in advance

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Gas certificates are only legally required for the installation of a heating appliance, boilers and space heaters etc. but I generally provide a receipt listing the work carried out as a minimum as this would satisfy any insurance requirements to prove the work had been carried out by a competent person. If there any kind of hesitation to provide this I would be checking the individual in question is Gas Safe registered by checking their online database. Fraudulent traders must be reported to Gas Safe and the work.

to be honest that will have to be checked for any leaks and the correct test must be carried out by a qualified gas safe engineer. for insurance purpose and to be on the safe side .this is not a problem as i am qualified as a gas safe engineer and can arrange for a gas safe inspection to be certificated and reciept.

I wouldn't normally leave a certificate for this type of work either. Details of work on an invoice should suffice.

Really depends on who is doing the work all have different ways of dealing with these jobs, as stated it is not a legal req. But when I do this type of work as soon as a gas test is done I do an installation/decommission cert to show all fine when I left along with the test stapled to it

certificates are not issued for this type of work. No paperwork is required for this however any decent gas safe registered engineer should have given you a receipt for proof of work carried out unless you had agreed otherwise. You can check <<<< and please do >>>>> the gas safe register website to verify anyone that you have contracted to do gas work for you is indeed registered. There is not a gas engineer out there that pays for his licenses etc that would have any problem with you doing this at all.
