immersion heater

my immersion heater stopped working(5yrs)old.replaced with new same spec and it wont switch off,replaced with another new one still same problem i am now on the third one and the same problem,it gets that hot it is heating the cold water supply tank

have you used the same thermostat ?,it would be very unlikely that you have obtained 3 defective immersion heaters,if you have used same thermostat it is defective,if you have a plastic tank it could split,showering anyone below with hot water,get it checked by a qualified electrician.

I wouldn't say that the Immersion heater not switching off is an element issue... More than likely it's the thermostat thats the issue.

Try turning the thermostat down
You should hear it click on and off
But you should contact a competent electrian

I would recommend the wiring to the emersion heater is verified by a competent plumber or electrician and keep it turned off in the meantime. unregulated heating of a hot water cylinder has a numerous list of potential dangerous outcomes to the occupants of the premise.
