For a full refurbishment job is it better to hire one builder or several?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.52 PM
I would like to install new kitchen, bathroom, WC, flooring, and move walls in a house. Is it better that I hire my own plumber and electrician, or have one general builder hire subcontractor plumbers and electricians? Is it better to give all the work to one company or several?

It largely depends on how much skill and time you have.
Overall an affordable reputable Main contractor who has their reputation at stake is a good choice.

I would say having the extra layer of responsibility and therefore liability is also a good thing. Therefore allowing the main contractor to bring in his own guys may be slightly more expensive but it will provide more cover in the event of a claim should it ever be needed assuming of course valid insurance is in place.

In my opinion, a job will normally run smoother if one person or company is responsible for the whole project.
