Megaflo recharge air bubble

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.52 PM

I have a Megaflow eco systemfit unvented cylinder installed on first floor and just noticed water dripping from tundish. Following the air bubble recharge procedure, I turned off the mains supply to the cylinder and opened a hot water tap in the toilet on the ground floor. I can hear the intermittent gurgling noise at the valve, however the hot water at the tap does not stop after over 30 minutes while the manufacturer says that it should stop within a few minutes. I think the ground floor toilet tap is connected to the balance cold water from the cylinder. What could be the problem here? Thanks, Yiran

It could be the tap, if it's a monoblock tap, then it could be passing through the cold side of the tap. Caused by a worn cartridge

There is a possibility there could be a mixing problem on a shower or tap This will mean the cold water is going back up the hot pipe If you have only turned the main of to the cylinder then turn of incoming main at point of entry to property and this will allow you to drain down

If there’s dripping from tundish on cylinder, then you need to check three things: pressure relief valve on the pressure reducing valve mains group coming to cylinder, pressure and temperature relief valve on the cylinder, and cylinder expansion vessel which in most cases is not holding pressure which then needs to be pre charged or replaced. You need to get plumber to check it over and sort this out.
