Hello
Without getting electrician in you can verify if storage heaters are energised during day by looking at electricity meter. Turn all storage heaters on, set thermostat on them to full, switch off or unplug all other appliances and look at the electric meter. If you have an old style meter with dial, the dial should be more less motionless. If it spins quite fast that is signalling substantial electricity being drawn which is typical for storage heater turned on. If your meter is newer it has a red light which blinks every now and again. If it is blinking quite fast that again is signalling substantial electricity being drawn, typical for storage heaters when they are on.

Its difficult from your question to know exactly what you are asking. So just in case you're saying it seems like your storage heaters are running in the day and not at night then thats what they sort of do. Well actually they consume energy at night - store it - and output it slowly over time in the way of heat. So a storage heater should be very hot in the morning, quite hot at dinner and getting cooler towards evening. At this point (around midnight) they switch on and use electric to heat themselves up again when the electric costs less. In the morning (around 6am) they stop using electric and the heat slowly radiates in to the room until the evening when they draw power again to heat up.

Best way to do this without calling electrician is to listen to the heater should here the element heating and thermostat clicking on and off etc proving electric is there
