Bathroom Fitting

Wet Room Shower to Bath with Shower

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.25 PM

Hi I have a wet room, the shower base is obviously in the concrete with the nonslip flooring over it! I want to change it, so I have a corner bath with the shower over the bath. Can I just get the bath installed or do I have to get the shower base dig out of the floor first? Sorry if this is a silly question.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi I'm Ruairi. You might have to change hot/cold pipe an waste pipe around to suit ur combination bath. So I would take the shower tray out. The bath might hide the shower tray so u might b lucky enough not to damage ur floor. But I'd take the tray out. Hope this helps you.

Yes you can fit the bath over the existing wet floor. The previous answer is incorrect as there is no shower tray. There is a waste conversion available which will allow the bath to utilise the existing waste. The only thing that may need adjusting is the hot and cold water feed depending on the current setup

Your probably going to need to unitise the drain that’s attached to the shower tray so it’ll need to be removed if this is the case

Hi. The bath waste will need to be changed. Hot and cold pipes installed to supply the bath. Depending on the floor substrate, will it be strong enough to take a full weight of water and a person. Needs a full investigation to come to a compentant conclusion. Kind regards vince

The imagination can get a little confused when you don’t know how to plan a bathroom . Politely and with respect . The floor plan should be considered a clear substraint . To lay prima / adhesive / grouted and sealed tiles . In answer to the question. The existing shower tray needs to be lifted and removed . If your trying to save money then you will need to fill in the space that’s left from the shower tray with tiles . Then you can fit you’re bath in the corner . With screen , not tray In short no ! Please Don’t lay the bath over shower tray .
