Hot water cylinder thermostat is rapidly cycling - is this normal?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.25 PM
Cylinder thermostat loudly clicks on and off whenever the cylinder is relatively close to its set temperature. It will cycle on and off every 3-4 seconds for quite a long time. Please can you advise whether this is normal, whether it indicates a fault, or whether it suggests some settings just need changing? Boiler: Logic Heat H15 (brand new, set to 70°C) Cylinder: ThermaQ Evocyl (brand new) Cylinder thermostat: ESI Electronic Dual Cylinder Thermometer ESCTDEB (brand new, set to 60°C) Thanks.

Hello Scott. The key words here are "brand new".
If these parts were professionally fitted recently then your best option is to ask the installer to return and rectify the problem. If you get someone else to do the work it can void the guarantee of the original installer.
All money exchanges for good or services must by law include a receipt, the IRS can fine businesses or individuals up to £2000 for every proven case of non compliance.
If you are the installer... sorry I have no advise.
Hope this helps, Bob.

As you're immersion is 'brand new' I'd get it changed under warranty sounds like the actual thermostat could be out of calibration, shouldn't keep cycling so frequently.
Contact installer get it replaced

Try setting your boiler stat to 60/65 °C and see if that solves the problem.

Not too much noticeable clicking sounds from a thermostat. The system sounds like its indirect and whether you have an (s plan of two 2port valves) or y plan three port. Could be where the clicking sound you maybe recognizing according to you set on/off program timer.
Simply have the installer round to rectify your issue.. if the system was Installed recently.
Thanks
