Electric oven turning itself on-- can you fix it?

We have an electric oven that was installed (by AO.com) about four years ago. In the last few months, we've noticed that it sometimes switches itself on and off when the knob is in the off position and we aren't touching it. It usually doesn't stay on, just cycles on and off a few times, which we can see because the digital display changes, and the oven light comes on. This is obviously a bit scary! Is this something that we can get fixed somehow, or is it likely that it's a faulty oven? It's out of warranty, unfortunately. Any thoughts would be helpful! I have a video, although don't know whether there is an option to post here.

Without seeing it or knowing the model I would suggest this was a faulty PCB and was likely not worth repairing unless it's a very expensive oven. If the switch to turn it on was mechanical then it could be a simple swap but from the symptoms you describe it sounds like it may not be.. bottom line is you will need someone to look at it or google that model number and the symptoms and see if anyone else is having a similar issue.

Try an appliance engineer to fix it. Although by your description it might be more prudent expense wise to replace it.

Really depends on the make and model and a more detailed fault description If you had posted those details an experienced appliance engineer would have told you exactly what it was. You will most likely be looking at a repair bill between £75 and £100 for something like a selector switch maybe a bit more if it is a pcb
