You will need to contact a Gas safe registered engineer to inspect the chimney prior to installing a gas fire that is. If it's previously used for solid fuel and you are considering a gas fire to replace then the chimney will need to be swept/lined etc. As far as I'm aware the fire you are after is solid fuel and not gas.

Most solid fuel cast insert can be made to work with a gas fire. In all cases if the unit has a damper is should either be discarded or fixed in a way that it cannot fall shut.
Your best bet is to contact a fireplace specialist like us to advise on the which units would be suitable as some can be installed with modern convector fires which give lots of heat but still have that traditional look
Best of luck

If chimney is used for the solid fuel appliance it should be swept and clean, chimney damper should be removed or fixed open so it could not be close , may need chimney lining as well , before you install new natural gas appliances on it
