Small pools of water

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.25 PM

I have recently broken up a slab of concrete that a previous owner had placed in the front garden. I have since noticed that two pools of water form and take a long time to drain away. I am unsure what this would be due to. There is a tarmac road very close to the spot which may be a reason, but water doesn't pool next to the rest of the area next to the road. Any ideas/suggestions? I am concerned as these two spots are close to the house rather than farther away.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes sounds like the surface water is running off the tarmac into the lower ground level. You could dig a French drain or gravel strip along side of the tarmac falling away from the house.

A concrete base will always compress the ground underneath it , Check you have no broken pipework underneath or are you in a part of an area with a high water table as we find all the time Try digging a test hole around the area being careful of cables gas and water. If you find you have a drainage problem try putting a soak away in which does help near properties regards jason
