Replacing GU10 light fittings in bathroom
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM
Dear Experts, Can I replace my existing downlighter in my bathroom myself without breaking any regulations. The current 240v GU10 fittings are looking a bit "tired" so I'm just planning to replace like for like. In fact I would like to upgrade to a better ip and fire protected fitting (I don't mind them being over specced). The existing downlights are fixed to false plasterboard ceiling which is 8.5 ft high. There is a 10" empty void before the original Edwardian lath&plaster ceiling. Above that is small lofted area (bathroom footprint size) used for lightweight storage only. There is a thin layer of insulation in the loft area (but non in void). The current downlights are the open backed style which is another reason for wanting to upgrade. The main reason however is that they look old. Thanks
