Fusebox fitted last year - no certificate & not notified - what to do?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM
Hi All, It appears i've been very naive. I got a local electrician (who was recommended) to look at some wiring in the house last year as it was a bit suspect looking, at the time he said that most importantly i should get my consumer unit upgraded as it was a relic (which to be fair it was). He did this work and he's advised me as it was a like for like replacement i wouldn't require a certificate etc., which some 15 months later i've realised is not the case. The guy has since moved house and think he's living rurally on the Isle of Skye or something but i've no way of contacting him anyway. I was just wondering what i am to do in this circumstance? It's entirely my mistake for being naive, but i was hoping to sell my property next year and obviously don't want this to be an issue come that time. Is there anything that can be done retrospectively or am i best to just contact building regs and potentially face the music of a fine? I'm in Scotland for information just in case the regulations differ somewhat. Many thanks for any replies.
