What type of mortar mix

Building a natural granite wall in silver grey. What is the best mortar to use and should I add lime to the mix

Use silver sand if you want a lighter mortar finish If the wall forms part of a building use a hydraulic lime based mix 5:1:1 pj

The ratio is correct and building sand and normal Portland cement you could see if a colour dye is available to add to the mix or otherwise the mortar will look harsh and you would get effloence showing through the new build regards David Kenyon of four seasons
