Fridge freezer freezer door repair.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.27 PM

I have a fridge freezer. I live in a rented flat from a Housing association who recently had a new kitchen fitted for me. as a result of the new layout the doors on the fridge freezer were opening the wrong way. They came back out and swap the doors over for me. the job was done whilst the fridge freezer was still on Since this was done, last Monday I've been getting white frost in the in the freezer. I've a feeling the freezer door wasn't quite put back properly. I was wondering if this white frost was normal and the freezer still needs time to settle or is it because the door hasn't been put back properly and there might be a break in the seal?

This sounds like the door isn’t sealing properly

I believe you might be right in that the door may not be seating properly. Try putting a piece of paper in each part (top, bottom, middle and sides) then shut the door and see if the paper is being pinched by the seal? Im sure your fitter, if professional, will recognise the issue you are having and return to adjust it.

Sounds like door isn't sealing so door needs adjusting to seal properly

It definitely shows that the door has not been aligned properly. The showing of ‘frost’ is from warmer air entering the freezer and chilling rapidly caused by an ill fitting door. Easiest test is with a strip of thin paper. Open the door, carefully hold the piece of paper across a section of the cabinet casing with your hand out of the way just enough to be able to close the door and yet still hold the paper strip. Now GENTLY close the door. With the door closed, try to slowly pull the paper strip out. You should be feeling a slight resistance where the magnetic strip in the rubber door seal hits the cabinet. Try this at regular intervals all around the seal closure. This will indicate to you where the adjustment needs to take place.
