replaced toilet cistern existing pipe too large

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.27 PM

The cistern was install in the 1970s and the existing pipes are too large for the 15mm fittings (they are about 17-18mm). Are there any fittings that would reduce the existing pipe size or what would be the best solution?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If your sizing is correct the existing pipe must be an imperial size Reducer couplings are available but if the old pipe is imperial these will be more difficult to find The size of the pipe suggest that the water is supplied from a low pressure source ie a loft tank

Speedfit do a 1/2 " to 15mm connector solves all problems with imperial to metric.

Go to plumb center and ask for a no. 9 adaptor. It's a brass fitting that reduces from that thicker gauge pipe to 15mm

18mm is too big to be imperial size which is 1/2. 18mm to 15mm or 1/2 reducers should be available from a good plumbers merchant.
