Do I get a builder in or a floor fitter?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM
I've just had old Marley tiles professionally removed in the living/ dining room and this has left deep grooves in the floor. It also exposed a crack in the middle of the room. I want to sort the floor out properly as i have no intention of doing this again anytime soon. It's a 1930s house and whilst removing the tiles some of the skirting boards went with it as these had been laid on top of the tiles. These were rotten according to those that removed them. At certain places I don't think there's a sufficient gap at the bottom of the plasterwork. There are old sliding doors to the patio and in my lay opinion the door opening is too low and i have already been told that any new door fitted would be raised by a brick height. My question is who do I instruct to get this all fixed for me. I suppose the doors will need replacing first and that's easy enough. Who do I get in to seal the floor, put down a DPM and then level it? Is it just a floor fitter? Would they also be able to chip the plaster back where needed? Am I correct in saying that the plasterer would be in after the floor has been done? Thank you all.
