Cracks in a wall - how do i get rid of them??

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

I'm currently decorating my property but when i moved in i noticed these tiny little cracks all over the walls in my passage that looks like it goes no deeper than the paint. I thought at first it was the council's terrible paint job but when i've started painting in another room the wall on the other side of the passage wall has started to crack too. It's not the paint as i've heard cheap paint can cause it its dulux paint i've used?? Someone also said my walls moved and ive read that it also means my walls could be dry?? Can anyone help?? Thank you for your answers aswell i havent yet worked out how to reply to them but thank you:)

Once you have prepped the cracks ( plenty of tutorials online) hang wallrock lining paper then re decorate. Wallrock is now sold under the anaglypta brand i believe

Hello, the wall cracks could be worrying. In some cases it indicates that the foundations might moved or sank. See where the crack goes.Id it goes down from the top down in vertical line it could be only plaster, but if it goes across from bottom corner to the top corner,I would call a surveyor to see the condition of foundations. Hope that helps Martin

So judging by cracks described maybe painted over wet plaster by previous person if so rake out dust off and use pollycell interior filler sand when dry and apply one coat to filled areas then apply a coat to the rest of the wall to avoid flashing

Hey there, it don't sound to worrying, I'd rake the cracks out to make a little larger so you have somewhere the filler can go and get a bond! Fill the cracks and leave a little proud wait till completely dry then sand to a nice flat finish!
