Fitting a designer radiator to a plasterboard wall.

Hello I need to fit a 40kg (empty) 472mm x 1600mm (Double Panel) designer radiator to a plasterboard wall. Because it's a designer radiator cutting away the plasterboard and installing a pad is not an option. I am hoping to catch some studs but it is going in a specific location and may not happen. My question is will the plasterboard support this weight (distributed over 4 brackets) without pulling itself from the wall or buckling the plasterboard and what fixings are recommended? Thanks

It's not recommended to hang the radiator without the correct fixings in place but you could use a brown Gripit fixing which would allow 113kg weight distribution in a plasterboard wall. I hope this helped.

Have a look to see if they do feet for the radiator, i wouldnt trust fixing that state they will hold 130kg etc, whats stopping it falling forward and pulling the whole board off - plasterboard screws holding the original wall wont !

That is a serious radiator. I would recommend fixing a sheet of 6mm ply to the wall behind the rad, small enough to not be seen but big enough to give support to the radiator connections. Screw the ply to the wall picking up as many stud connections as you can. Then fix the radiator to the plywood using butterfly connectors fixed right through the ply and plasterboard. Then use the thinner of the two thicknesses available when you put on the connectors attaching the radiator to the wall.
