Painting & Decorating

I painted part of my porch which is a mixture of stone, wood and brick.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 2.50 PM

The paint went wrinkly and started peeling almost immediately. The paint was well mixed and even if some was not correct ie masonary paint on wood etc some of it should have taken? I am selling the place and want to leave it in a good condition but dont know how to correct it. I have wire brushed it and left it and still paint is coming off.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Walls are damp, hence the paint problem.

Hi You need to make good and seal the surface area with a primer sealer, you could use sandtex masonary primer or Zinsser Bullseye 123, then undercoat and then masonary paint, with the wall area being open to nature the weather will take its toll and not that its damp but with the rain & cold it as a effect before you appl any paint material use a heat gun on it just to bring any condensation etc to the top then once it feels dry enough put your primer sealer on etc. Hope this helps Chris
