New plastered plasterboard wall cracked along joints and tape showing in places?

Hi I have had a couple of rooms plastered and I noticed on a couple of walls, cracks appearing the full length of the wall. The room was boarded out with new 12 mm plasterboard and skrim tape was used on the joints. However there is a crack that runs from one end of the room to the other (where the two boards meet and lots of individual cracks along the edges of the plasterboard. In places I can see the scrim tape through the plaster near the cracks? The walls did have two coats I believe… There has been no movement on the wall itself as it has been there for a long time. Is this a question of simply not enough plaster so the topcoat is just too thin – hence I can see the tape? How do I rectify this – should I get the tradesmen back to retape the joints and re-plaster? In regards to the question as to where it is cracked – no it is not along the ceiling I have done a couple of builds and know they always crack along the ceiling joint. Hi there, could be a number of reasons, not always wise to assume the tradesmen hasn’t done his job properly, if your decorating the walls yourself I’d address the cracks and Skrim tape showing with decorators caulk a good quality filler followed by a mist coat and 2/3 coats of quality paint, But have a word with your plasterer I’m sure he’d be happy to pop back and remedy those few bits,before decorating starts, We are all too quick to tear people down in this day and age

In my opinion the skim coat has not been applied to a proper thickness . Generally 2/3mm is applied in 2 coats . That’s how I was taught . It may appear that only 1 coat has been applied hence the scrim tape showing . You can get a degree of movement in buildings which may cause cracks to appear at wall and ceiling junctions . Personally I’d contact the people who did it and say you are not happy with it and go from there . Good luck
