Renovation team or individual tradespeople?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

Would it be more cost effective to hire a renovation company for our Victorian terrace fixer-upper or separate tradespeople for individual jobs?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It can be more cost effective to hire each trader separately and make arrangements and organise invoices etc with them. The problem can occur if you want this done quickly and one trade working along side another or to follow on. If you do not have the time or the head for the organising I would go for the one company that can take care of the job, turn key from start to finish.

It is probably a bit cheaper to hire individual trades in rather than a company , BUT the problem is you never get as good of a job because a good company takes care of all the work and cares about the next trade coming in . And there is 1 man in control of the job organising trades and materials , instead of several individuals that just care about their own work and not about the whole project .

You are best off hiring the individuals separately if you are willing to run the job. If you are not and want the job to run with out yourself having to do much organising then I recommend getting a company in.

We see it a lot when people decide to project manage and bring in teams that haven’t worked alongside each other. Have one bill, one contact and one contact you no the team will do it right and have worked together before. It’s cheaper to do it once instead of twice.
