What product do I need to prime internal breeze blocks with to tile onto?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I plan to remove the plaster board and tile onto the breeze blocks, but am unsure what primer tile adhesive will stick to. So. What product do I need to prime internal breeze blocks with to tile onto? Thanks.

If you have no other option ie tile backer boards or render You can over tile breeze blocks but the suction caused by the breeze block needs to be tempered, I would use Ardion 51 as a primer allow to dry then make good levels as needed prior to tiling

need to prime it with a suitable primer, BAL APD or similar, allow this to dry and apply a slurry primer 50/50 with the adhesive you've chosen (bal apd primer) then use BAL single part flexible or Ardex X7 with what ever primer you used mix it together then this will be fine hope this helps

hi glenmarquis, are your to be tiled walls external or internal.if internal you can prime with any suitable primer keeping with your preposed adhesive choice.prep the walls ie render flat with chosen adehsive,if your walls are external with render or painted i would suggest you use a backer board system, surrated with a notched trowel to the wall.make sure your walls are plumb and flat, happy tiling.

Tiling directly straight onto breeze blocks is not recommended. As perfect preparation must take place before you tile onto breeze blocks The breeze blocks must be sealed with a priming agent and then either (No1) rendered perfectly flat (No2) glue with one part flexible adhesive tile backer boards onto the surface (No3) dot and dab plaster board onto the surface with dry lining compound to create a perfect flat surface ready for tiling. Also depends on the size of the tile and the weight of the tile In regards to which method is used for preparation
