I have a dripping kitchen tap and wet brick are the two connected?
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM
Hi I have a dripping kitchen tap. Directly outside the kitchen is the garden tap. The brick around the garden tap is wet and looks like there is a leak internally which maybe connected to the kitchen tap if that makes sense. When I switch the water off the brick dries up. Can anyone advise what this could be?

It sounds like your tap when your garden tap is dripping there is a small amount of splash back onto the outside brick wall. This would make it look damp and I would say it isn't a cause for concern. The easiest way to remedy the drip would be to replace the outside tap completely as trying to find new internal seals for it is notoriously difficult.
If a pipe was leaking internally and causing damp you would almost certainly know about it as the damp area would be huge.
I hope this helps and if you need a plumber/handyman to come out and replace the tap feel free to post the job on here.

Hi, The drip on the kitchen tap will not be related to the wet brick. The kitchen tap will just need the washer or cartridge replaced depending on the type of tap.
The wet brick suggests a leak on the outdoor tap. It is most likely the gland on the tap that is leaking. The water will be leaking and running down the tap / pipework and wetting the brick. This is an easy fix by tightening the gland nut or worse case scenario, replacing the tap.
Best to call a plumber to take a look and fix both issues - it should be a relatively straight forward job.
I hope that this is of some help to you.

Hi, this is a leak from the pipework. I would recommend hiring someone who is local to look at it. Price for this repair wouldn't cost no more than 50/80 pounds. Kind regards

There could possibly be a pin hole where the pipe has rubbed or corroded inside the brickwork. This will need further investigation.
