Central Heating

underfloor heating and radiators

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.04 PM

I have underfloor heating and radiators all running on same system from boiler, i am now going to seperate the underfloor from main system so they can work seperate of each other using two 2 port valves, what i want to know is how can i run my underfloor system constant and have my rad system on timed, with them both running from same boiler were the timer is.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi, each two port will need either individual time control, or individual thermostats. You could get a two or three channel programmer and a thermostat for each thus giving you full control. Or you could stick to the same programmer you have and run it on constant and have seperate thermostats, this doesnt give you as much flexibility as the first option though.

You need 2 x 2 port valves each for UFH and radiators , operated by two thermostats or 2 zones controller - timer. If you have UFH with more than one zone than additionally needed manifold with actuators and UFH controll unit. 2 port valves are firing up boiler after heating demand from thermostats or timer for each zone separately or for both at the same time etc...

If you install two motorised valves, one for the radiator circuit and the other for the under floor heating, both can be independently controlled. So yes, you can leave the u/f heating running and the radiators on a program timer if you wish.

get right programmer and correct conect to thermostat and motorised valves programmer will control each zone when you want. I used 2 chanel programmer one for radiators and one for u/f thermostat controls temperature but programmer exact when you want heat radiator or floor wiring same us cylinder and radiator just swap cyl. to u/f You can get 3 zone programmer so to control cylinder radiators and floor if system
