Which is the right trade for the job?

For the job of repainting the exterior of wooden sash windows (so as always some minor repair/preventative maintenance and thorough preparation required), what's the right trade to ask? I'm not sure if I need a carpenter or painter and decorator? Thanks.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

A decorator who enjoys Prep. The sash would need a lot of prep and knowledge of resins and dry rot repair, to insure the windows longevity.

Sorry but this not my field of expertise! I only deal with pvcu products. But I think if it needs patching up a good painter and decorater would have the answer
