Electrical certificate required for change of plug socket fascia?

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM

Hi there, We are changing the plastic white plug socket and light switch fascia/cover for brushed steel. No new sockets or moves - just new covers. Do we need an electrical certificate for this change? Thanks, Charlotte

A minor works certificate can be issued to verify the socket has correct polarity and the RCD is working satisfactory

Hi Charlotte, Ideally you would need a minor works certificate issued on completion, just to confirm electrical safety, especially as you’re installing metal facias, you’d need confirmation that they are earthed correctly more than anything. Hope this helps Ryan

Hi Charlotte, This would be classed as maintenance and would not require a certificate. Thanks Sean

No certificate officially required but would be advisable to use a qualified electrician to ensure they are correctly done.
