Can a large electric towel warmer make bathroom warmer?
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM
Our towel heater in our bathroom is currently connected to the central heating and we can't turn it on and off at our will. Our bathroom can get quite cold so we are wondering whether replacing it with a larger electric powered towel heater with an on and off switch can make the bathroom warmer. If so, who do we go to? A plumber, a gas engineer or an electrician? Thanks!

If you have a look on the specifications the Electric towel heater you are thinking of purchasing it should have the average heating area, most will heat a 1.5m2-3m2 area and are between 100-750 watts. With this being said having a plumbed in one will probably be more cost effective as to actually heat a room and keep warm you may need a slightly higher powered electric heater.
So for an Electric towel rail, you will need an Electrician,
for a towel rail attached to your existing central heating system you will need either a plumber or gas engineer.

Towel rails run off a central heating system can have an electric element fitted so as such run on electricity on demand or through the central heating. Suitable wiring would need to be installed by an electrician and an element fitted. I hope this helps

All what was suggested was correct .. however to turn on and off at will ,as the customer asked, they could install an electric element in existing towel rail.. this would give best of both worlds ... without the expense of changing the one they have ... just another option

Although the radiator you currently are using is probably the most efficient compared with electric if you suffer from a cold bathroom then a duel fuel radiator would probably be the best way to go as it will warm up with your central heating system but can also be turned on when the gas heating is not in use
You would need a plumber to install this but you would also need an electrician to wire the connection up as it will have to go to a fused switched Spur
Hope this helps
