Carpet fraying at strips

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.24 PM

We have a few wide wooden carpet strips in our house but the carpet has come out from them and is fraying. I can't see how to get them off - there are no nails or screws visible. What would be the best way to sort this out? Remove them and replace them? Put a small carpet strip on top over the edge?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It sounds as if you need to replace the door threshold with an appropriate wider threshold then refit the carpet.

They would probably be a clip on door thresholds, take them up and put a metal one down that has spikes to allow the carpet to sit in the bar and hold.

Hi, You need carpet fitter to stretch and tack the carpet back or take it off and put adhesive instead.

Depending how had it has frayed, cut them off with sharp scissors. Pull the carpet back, spray the gripper and stretch. Or change the wooden thresholds, to a T bar style. So the carpet is covered by the threshold
