Water pipes near water tank making screeching and vibrating noises

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

After I turn on the hot water for a while, the pipe that draws the water from the loft to the tank (I think) starts making a loud vibrating screeching noise until the water tank is filled up again. Is something wrong with my pipe ?

this sounds like a problem with the ball valve feeding your cold water tank, change or clean ball valve.

Very simple fix and can cause a seriously loud annoying noise! Will either be the washer on the ball valve needing changed or worst case you would need to change the valve itself.

FOV probably needs a new diaphragm washer.

It’s the diaphragm washer in your ball valve. Best to change the ball valve completely. That will make the noise go away. Give us a shout if your stuck.

I would change the Valve, they cost around £15-20 for a brass body type.
