Should I Render exterior of house or tile first?

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

Hi all, Looking to render the exterior of my whole house and also have a new patio laid in the garden - should I have the patio laid prior to rendering the walls or the other way around? Conscious of not wanting one to damage the other where they meet..

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Jason, As a company that specialises in rendering and paving I would definitely say render first. It makes your builders life so much easier which in turn gives you a stress free job. Imagine turning up to do a complete hack off and re render job and finding out your client had just had a new porcelain patio laid. ( as happened to us recently ) So be kind to your builder and RENDER FIRST !!! thanks hope this helps you.....and your contractor!!

You can do either! If the job is prepared properly then you would be able to do either! That being said you are better to render first as it just makes everyones job that bit easier not worrying about damaging the new patio. Cheers

Lay patio after rendering, otherwise any dropped render will stain the patio
