Windows & Door fitting

Lots of air and noise.

Got a neighbour who plays guitar... Badly. Been going crazy but nobody else here seems to complain so started thinking was it my windows. Just bought the place and through looking at my windows it seems to be not good. What would I need to do to sort this, I have bought some storm guard seal gaskets to re do the windows but now I'm seeing the outside of the window is pretty much buggered. Just looks real shoddy and I think this is the reason for all the air and sound? Update: I didn't realise i couldn't upload pics. The exterior upvc surrounding doesn't have much silicone round it, and it's been placed in the whole badly. Link to the pics here... https://www.dropbox.com/sh/q0pan3a82eie8rp/AAD-f3RnM4j7kftZ_uLfT_hPa?dl=0

You, must make sure that all the windows are properly silicone sealed around all the sides, also double glassing helps.

Hi if your neighbour is next door i would say it's your wall that need looking at, but if they are opposite then yes your windows need looking at, sealing though will not dampen noise

If is missing silicons thats the reason you have air coming through, but a good silicons in and out may help to reduce the noise! This isn’t guaranteed 100%!

I would recommend replacing the glazing with an argon filled double glazed unit because the r value of the gas filled windows is much greater than not filled windows and will provide a high STC value.

If all your windows are upvc you may find that expanding foam hasn’t been used to take up the gap between frame and brick, this can let in noise and a draft. Take off trims foam then re trim and silicone the gap. Failing that the hinges may be old so not sealing the frame properly which will in turn cause drafts. Hope this all makes sense. Regards Jim.
