Boiler advice what to buy

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.45 PM

Been advised to purchase an IDEAL Logic max heat H24 boiler. I've also been told glow worm boilers are good? Glow worm R18 We want a heat only boiler not Combi. I have a 5 bed house with 14 radiators 1 bathroom and a shower room. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You have a couple choices here, you could go with a combi boiler with storage or system boiler with unvented cylinder which is brilliant for showers. Vailant and Glow-worm recommended. Ideal boiler in our opinion have inferior heat exchangers and we wouldnt recommend

I'd go with a larger ideal more like 30kw with a higher flow rate. I wouldnt really touch a glow worm to be honest. Baxi do a great 630 combi that would handle what they need all day long and it comes with a 7 year warranty.

It depends on your flow rate. This will need to be measured on your cold mains to determine the size of KW of your boiler. Just taking a guess at the KW is not advised as if you get it wrong you can’t return it.

worcester bosch allways and every time.if you go for a combi make sure your pressure and volume of supply is enough for your needs, lots of people with bombi boilers are disappointed when they can not use all outlets at same time, the boiler can only do what the maker says if your incoming main is adequate for the demand put on it.this also applies to unvented cylinders.

To achieve good hot water pressure from the outlets in the house of this size with x2 showers or x1 shower and bath, i would recommend a 38kw combination boiler and have the 15 litres of stored water on the back of it (especially if the customer has children) Vaillant 938, or go with a system boiler on an un-vented cylinder

I personally don’t know much about the new model of IDEAL Boilers, as I have not installed any. But I do hear a lot of installers saying good things about them at the moment. I prefer to install Glow-worm Boilers. These are my preference as I’ve never had any issues with them, very reasonably priced with a 7 year warranty as standard which can increased to 10 years. Hope this helps.
