Crumbling artex

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

We have an artex ceiling and some of it is crumbling. We want the artex removed or covered over but don't know if it contains asbestos. What is the best way to proceed? Can a plasterer deal with this or do we need specialists?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi you will have a stronger and better ceiling if you reboard over the artex and skim the new plaster board. It’s a bit more costly than reskim straight onto the old artex but will garantee a lot better finished ceiling.👍🏻

Hi with my experience 90 per cent of the time you can pva the artex then spread with multi finish plaster . Hope this is helpful

in most cases it's cheaper and easier to just plaster over the artex
