Kitchen Tap Replacement
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM
Hi I currently have 2 copper tails connecting in to a push fit connector. However most taps now have 2 flexi tails. Can i reuse the 2 copper tails or even get an adapter of some sort so that the flexi tails are conpatible with the push fit connectors? Thanks

It depends on the thread size on the taps, but it should be the correct size if it’s a modern mixer tap

As said they should be the same size, if you start adding adaptors that’s just one more thing to possibly leak.
If they don’t fit you can get Flexi tap tails with push fit on the other end.Hope this helps, best of luck.

Most modern taps have fixed flexible tails with 1/2" female thread connections. The best solution is to remove the pushfit connectors and fit 2 15mm isolation valves to your hot and cold feeds, then connect your flexes onto these, I wouldn't advise re using the copper tails, even if they were the same thread connections as the tap, they would need new orings or they could leak. I hope this answers your question.

You can, but the new tap will come with new tails anyway. If you do make sure the tap has the right size hole to take your copper units. The threads of the braided hoses sold with modern taps are usually slightly smaller.
If you need to remove the pushfits from your copper connections there is usually a circular rim at the end which pushes in towards the middle, hold it in whilst pulling the unit away from it in an up and down spinning motion. It should slide right off.

It is possible to use them again but I wouldn’t,take the tail out of the tap to see the size of it as it screws into the tap,you get 8,10 and 12 mm sizes and buy a pair of flexi hoses to fit the tap holes, you can get either compression or speed fit ends which then attach straight onto the hot and cold feeds, make sure the feeds are obviously isolated first.
