Alternatives to ridge tiles?
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM
I have recently had my roof replaced but have noticed that there appears to be missing ridge tiles along one of the ridges. I contacted the roofer to ask if it was an oversight on his part but he has replied, 'that's how it is finished it's better sealed and way better than before'. The ridge does have some sort of felt-like cover along the ridge where the ridge tiles are absent. Is this some known approach to roofing or am I being taken for a ride?

In my personal opioid he is taking you for a ride there should be sufficient coverage over the ridge by the ridge tiles supplied to the roofing system that was specced

As above youve be taken for a ride. ,what did building regs say, as its now a requirement that any new roof is signed of by building regs.regardless of if its like for like or only felt & lathe replacement.

In general all ridges should be fully tiled. Without seeing your particular roof it sounds like the roofer didn't have the means to cut a ridge tile to suit the gap or has he left a gap for a vent to go through to a ridge vent?
