Are electricians qualified to fit electric showers

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.26 PM

As the the job requires a little to do with plumbing, is it better to use a plumber or electrician.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Only electricians, or suitably qualified multi trades plumbers are qualified. The work also needs design, testing, certification and possibly notification under part p.

If the shower is a like for like replacement, then the electrician should be more than capable to complete the work. A plumber however would not be able to sign off the work unless he is a member of an organisation such as napit.

Normally both. Electrician to wire the shower to ensure the cabling is fit for purpose and a plumbing to fit the shower

The only thing you need to be qualified there is the electrical installation. Running a new cold feed would be simple. I do it all the time.

You would ideally need to contact an electrician to determine that the cable feeding the existing shower is suitable for the replacement. Also this circuit must be rcd ptotected.
