Connecting water to a detached garage
Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM
Hi people, would be really grateful if you could give me a very rough timescale for putting water into a detached garage, so that I can plum my washing machine into it. At the front of the house there’s a downstairs loo, so I’m guessing the pipe work etc could be extended from here (forgive my ignorance if not!) Between the house and garage measures about 4m. Thank you in advance! Cheers, Denise

This would most probably be a days work.
But without seeing the job it is hard to estimate time scale

Dear MyBuilder customer. Because you will be changing the "use" of the garage and turning it into an utility room to include mains water and drainage you should obtain planing consent from your local council first. It's worth noting that it's wholly the owners responsibility for obtaining such "change of use" consent. Be aware of the "kitchen tax" which could double your council tax bill... allegedly. Kind regards, Bob.

Getting water to location is the easy part! Getting the waste water away is the hard part, unless there is a drain really close.
